“My name is Pashk Pervathi. I currently live in Lezha, a small city with a population of approximately 30,000 people in northern Albania. I enjoy living in Lezha, a 2400 year old city with a rich and honorable history. It was once the most fortified city in Albania and its ancient walls still stand today. It is envied for its geographic location with a river that winds through the mountains and empties into the sea. It’s often described as a city with “Mediterranean lights”
My desire to paint goes back to my childhood. I was attracted to painting when I was little. I was only seven years old when I posed for a painter who was visiting my father. Many times I tried to reproduce that portrait. Whether I wanted it or not, painting became a part of my life. I attended the high school of art and later majored in painting at the Art Academy in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
The paintings displayed on this site are part of my studio collection in Lezha. These works originated in 1984. Initially my work was directed toward impressionist style paintings; however, after the year 2000, I leaned toward more decorative, conventional, and particularly symbolic works.
At the beginning of my career, my preferred motifs were autumn and landscapes. Horses, boats, and stones are now my favorite subjects.
